Capability and Competency Development for the Energy Sector

A 5-day field course evaluates key sequence stratigraphic principles and their usage in reservoir applications, based on detailed sedimentological and stratigraphical examination of the deltaic marginal to shallow marine deposits of the Cretaceous Book Cliffs and Coal Cliffs, SE Utah, USA.

This 5-day field course uses interwoven outcrop observations, seismic exercises, lectures, and a comprehensive class project to teach fundamental and advanced concepts in the geological and seismic interpretation of thrust structures and systems to improve skill and confidence in interpretation approach and the ability to characterize structurally-complex reservoirs.

This virtual course, run over 5 sessions, guides the student through the key aspects of asset management by addressing two fundamental questions: “What do I need to know?” and “What do I need to do?”. By the end of the course, participants will know where to focus their efforts and what actions to take to make a material difference to the economic value of their asset.

This 6 session virtual petrophysics course explains the physical properties of rocks and their constituent fluids, how their properties are measured and how this information is used in reserve estimation and reservoir characterization of conventional reservoirs.

A 5-day field course exploring the reservoir modelling and petroleum engineering aspects of deepwater clastic reservoirs. Discussions will highlight the linkage from depositional processes to geological architecture and flow heterogeneity in development planning.
